Dubai Shopping Festival
If there is such a thing as an international shopping Mecca, it is in Dubai. And the annual pilgrimage starts January 15. The annual Dubai Shopping Festival gets underway then; the festival lasts a month, with tax free shopping at the city's 25 malls and its outdoor souqs (bazaars). You can even visit the "Carpet Oasis" and bring home one of the 100,000 or so Oriental rugs on display.
